Now Sekibaku was beginning to get slightly annoyed with the Kazekage, though he didn't show it. He simply closed his eyes and began to focus his chakra once more. The air in the balls began to spin and the surface of both balls began to get spiky. Suddenly, he had an idea.
He dropped his focus for a moment and thought: "One massive burst of Chakra, should be able to burst these balls. It may not be quite as useful for the Rasengan, due to having to maintain it, though it should get me past this step."
He let out one massive burst of Chakra in to his hands and immediately both balls burst, with a massive bang, and showered the Kazekage and himself in a cascade of rubber.
"About... <pant> bloody... <pant> time..." he panted. He looked up towards Sunagakure proper, and noticed the sun setting behind the Kazekage tower.
Ketsueki growled in annoyance.
How am I supposed to teach a slacker like him? Trying to take short cuts... This next one wont be such a picnic... She thought as she stood and picked up two small balloons. She handed one to Sekibaku.
"Ok, kid, here's the deal, you have to make your balloon do this," Ketsueki said as she held out the balloon, but it looked like she wasn't doing anything at all.
"What am I supposed to be looking at?" asked Sekibaku confused, then remembering something he read, "No wait, let me guess. You're forming a Rasengan inside the balloon am I right? And I have to match the power and rotation exactly to avoid the balloon popping?"
After that he thought: "Oh great. I knew my sudden burst of Chakra wouldn't work for this one. Here I have to maintain the power and rotation at 100% for a while, without popping the balloon. This is going to be really tough."
"Because I'm a cruel person, I'll show you with my other hand what is going on in the balloon, brainiac." With that state meant, Ketsueki held out her other hand and a perfect rasengan quickly formed.
She then stopped using the jutsu in her spare hand and popped the balloon to show a perfect spiralling rasengan sphere.
Sekibaku grunted. This time not afraid to show his annoyance with the Kazekage. He attached the balloon to his hand with a piece of string he had brought in his pocket.
"Right. Power and rotation, power and rotation... Remember, don't overdo it, start of slow and build it up to make sure you don't burst the balloon..." he thought to himself, "I've had enough of the Kazekage's sarcastic comments, though attacking her would be suicide, and worse if I said anything about it, she would probably stop training me."
He began to focus his chakra in his right hand where the balloon was sitting. Within 3 seconds it had burst.
"Ok... that certainly didn't go well." he said as he attached a new balloon to his hand. After all, here it would be terrible if his Chakra Blades pierced it, he wouldn't know whether he had mastered it or not.
After her hands begin to glow green, Ket then tapped four points around each ear and her ability to hear vanishes temporarily.
"Keep trying kid, you'll get it eventually..."
"Ok, I overdid that a bit," he thought to himself, "start off slow..."
Once again he focused the chakra in his right hand, but slowly that time. He could feel the chakra building up inside the balloon, and was making sure he didn't use too much force. However he could feel that the Chakra wasn't rotating, so he started rotating it to the left.
Suddenly, a searing pain ran across his chest. He knew instantly that it was running across the Dragon burned in to it.
He stopped the chakra flow, detached the ball from his hand, turned around and unbuttoned his shirt. When he looked down, he could see his chakra running along it.
"Finally, it has matured..." he muttered under his breath, then to the Kazekage he said:
"Could you hand me another rubber ball? I want to try that again."
With a single tap above the ear, her hearing was back to normal, so she nodded and obliged by throw Sekibaku two new rubber balls.
"Same exercise, only I want to see those rubber balls spiking before they explode. I want to see the pressure."
This time he didn't even bother tying the balls to his hands, because he knew his control over the Chakra Blades would be complete with his Dragon mark matured.
"All rightey then..." he said.
Then as easy as anything, the balls began to spike, but they didn't pop.
"Not quite there it seems," he though to himself, "a little more power and it'll go pop."
He concentrated a bit harder and the balls let out a massive BANG and exploded.
"The power is there... but can I maintain it..?" he thought.
"Okay then. I think I'm ready for the next one." he said to the Kazekage.
Ketsueki, on the other hand, had a very annoyed expression that mixed with regret.
"Damn, I shoulda stayed deaf... cus that hurt my ears!" She complained before handing the boy a balloon, "Ok kid, you need to form the rasengan inside this balloon. If it pops because of too much power, try again, if while you are doing it and I can still press a dent in the balloon, try again, if the balloon spikes, try again, if you get another fart puncture, TRY AGAIN. Alright?"
"Right, I've got it already."
He took the balloon, and started channeling his chakra.
"Remember, I have have more power, but that means I will have to get the rotation better in order to avoid popping this balloon..." he thought.
As he channeled his chakra, he felt the power increasing too fast, and realized he'd have to stop. But it was too late, soon after the balloon had popped.
"Damn." he said as he picked up another balloon. Once again he began to channel the chakra in to his palm. However, this time the balloon didn't explode. With his left hand he touched the balloon, and he pushed it a bit, turned out he could press a 2cm dent in to the ball.
"Not enough power this time. God this is difficult, even with my control over Chakra..."
In the meantime, Ketsueki just sat there eating her dumplings off of a stick. She had to pass the time somehow, right?
"The rasengan isn't a picnic, kid, at least, not a nice one. You're fighting for the food here, that means a little more effort is necessary if you wanna get some food into your stomach. Catch my drift?"
He gasped. He only just then remembered he hadn't eaten anything since that morning, and it was getting dark. The sun was getting low behind the Kazekage tower.
"Right."
He began, once again, to channel his chakra in to the balloon, but he was exhausted and hungry. He wasn't sure whether he would be able to keep all this up.
"My chakra control has increased, but I don't have that much left. I don't know how long I'll last." he though to himself, "But there is no way, I'm going to give up before I've got this jutsu mastered."
The balloon began to spike, when Sekibaku noticed this, he lowered the amount of chakra he was channeling into his palm, and started working on rotating it instead.
"Just as I thought. Not easy..."
Ketsueki sighed as she heard the boy's stomach rumble. Doing anything on an empty stomach was hard, she should know, for she used to always complain about it. With that, she flicked a chakra enhanced pebble at the balloon and popped it as she stood up.
The Kazekage then dusted off her robes and sighed again as she outstretched a hand.
"It's getting late and I can't live off cookies and dumplings forever. My youngest sibling is out on a mission, so you'll be dining with just myself and my younger brother, Teiru." She then looked at the boy with a coy smile, "Lucky for you, I'm not cooking the meal. I haven't been aloud in my kitchen since Teiru's 13th birthday if the subject was cooking. Now come on."
"What? You're inviting me to dinner?" Sekibaku said. He was very confused, never had he expected to be invited to the Kazekage tower, let alone be allowed to dine with the Kazekage herself.
"Strange, why is she inviting me to dinner? This makes no sense..." he thought. However he obeyed and followed Ketsueki. Before he left the grounds, he eyed the bag of balloons.
"Hm... perhaps I could train on the way there..." he thought.
"Lady Kazekage, would you mind if I brought a few balloons, so I could train on the way?"
